A: YES. Go ahead and use the computers that are already in your office. Need to purchase new hardware? Feel free to shop around. We are both Mac and Windows-compatible, and can run on a wide range of hardware. You deserve the flexibility to choose the hardware that works best for you.

Q: What are the recommended system requirements?
A: Mac: Mac OS X, 1024 x 768, and QuickTime (video). Win: Windows XP/Vista, 1024 x 768, and QuickTime (video) Lin: Linux x86, 1024 x 768, and mPlayer (video)

Q: What are the version and operating system compatibility requirements?

Q: Does your Acuity System satisfy the ISO 8596:1994 specification?
A: YES. If you use any computer on our recommended hardware listing, the Acuity System will be fully compliant with the ISO 8596:1994 specification. This includes brightness levels, relative contrast values, viewing distances, optotype design, and many other factors. You can be confident that your results will be accurate and dependable.

Q: Does your Acuity System satisfy the E-ETDRS specification?
A: YES. The Acuity System conforms to all the specifications laid out for S-ETDRS, as well as the added requirements of the E-ETDRS protocol. Specifically, our ETDRS protocol tests 5 letters per line, supports the required size range from 20/800 to 20/12, and supports LogMAR scoring.

Q: Can I use your Acuity System in clinical trials?
A: YES. The E-ETDRS protocol has been certified by the National Eye Institute to be indistinguishable from the standard ETDRS protocol in terms of test-retest reliability. If you use identically configured software in a clinical setting, you will get reliable, consistent results across the board.
